RAJINIKANTH MAY BE SUMMONED AGAIN OVER FIRING CASE

Chennai: The inquiry commission, headed by retired judge Aruna Jagadeesan, which is probing the Tuticorin firing case, is likely to summon actor Rajinikanth again. The inquiry commission’s advocate told the media: “Rajinikanth will be summoned soon. There is a possibility to summon him in January as he has already started going for his movie shootings.”

Summons were issued to Rajinikanth by the commission, as he has said that anti-social elements instigated the protestors who were protesting against the Sterlite smelter plant which resulted in police firing and killing of 13 protesters in 2018.

When the summon was issued in February this year, Rajinikanth sought time for deposing before the commission citing the Covid situation. Rajinikanth had also added that he will depose before the commission and give his statement. This comes at the time when Rajinikanth has announced that he will start his party in January.

The commission has so far inquired 492 people in relation to the case and the state government has also transferred the case to CBI.
