The childhood house of renowned terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, as well as three other family-owned homes in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri, will be auctioned off on Friday. The agricultural assets located in Mumbake village will be auctioned off in Mumbai on January 5. Authorities have seized these assets under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA). This marks the auction of the 11th property linked to Dawood or his family in the past nine years.

Details of the Auctioned Properties

The auction includes Dawood Ibrahim’s childhood home, symbolizing a significant chapter of his early life. Additionally, three other agricultural properties in Mumbake village are part of the auction, with the proceedings scheduled to take place in Mumbai. Previous auctions have seen the sale of various assets, such as a restaurant fetching Rs 4.53 crore, six flats sold for Rs 3.53 crore, and a guest house that garnered Rs 3.52 crore.

Dawood Ibrahim’s Connection to Mumbake Village

Dawood Ibrahim, a key accused in the infamous 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, resided in Mumbake village during his childhood before relocating to Mumbai in 1983. The upcoming auction puts a spotlight on his early life, as the properties carry historical significance. Dawood left India in the aftermath of the 1993 bomb blasts, which claimed the lives of 257 individuals.

1993 Mumbai Serial Blasts and CBI Investigation

The devastating bomb blasts on March 12, 1993, shook Mumbai, resulting in 257 fatalities, over 700 injuries, and substantial property damage estimated at Rs 27 crore. The case was subsequently transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at the request of the Maharashtra government. On June 16, 2017, several accused individuals, including Mustafa Dossa and Abu Salem, were convicted in connection with the case. Dawood Ibrahim, a wanted terrorist, allegedly orchestrated the attacks.

The auction of Dawood Ibrahim’s childhood home and family properties adds a new chapter to the ongoing efforts to liquidate assets linked to individuals involved in criminal activities. The proceedings will be closely watched as authorities seek to dispense justice and address the legacy of one of India’s most notorious criminals.
