About 3.5 lakh government employees in Haryana will not be able to benefit from the cashless medical scheme this year as the draft has not being prepared. Employees will receive the scheme’s benefits from January 2024. The government initially planned to launch this scheme on Good Governance Day, covering 1,340 diseases. Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar had presented a significant gift to government employees on Haryana Day.

Under this scheme, about 3.5 lakh regular employees of Haryana, 3 lakh pensioners, and their 20 lakh dependents will avail the facility of cashless treatment from empaneled hospitals. A total of 569 hospitals have been listed in Haryana to provide the scheme’s benefits, covering 1340 diseases. In the first phase, 894 employees of fisheries and horticulture have been included.

In 2017, the state government launched a scheme with limited cashless benefits, covering only 6 life-threatening emergencies: cardiac emergency, brain hemorrhage, coma, electric shock, third and fourth stages of cancer, and accidents.
The new scheme not only covers six life-threatening emergencies but also all approved treatment packages. It is applicable to all indoor treatments, daycare procedures, and diagnostics in government medical colleges, government-aided medical colleges, district hospitals, health institutions, and private empaneled hospitals.

On Haryana Day, CM Manohar Lal has started providing benefits of the Ayushman-Chirayu Scheme to Antyodaya families with an annual income group of Rs 180,000-300,000. To date, 38,000 families in the state have applied for the scheme.
The government has announced that all families have started receiving the benefits of the Ayushman-Chirayu scheme.
