CBI Court orders seven-year rigorous imprisonment to IRS officer found guilty of bribery case

In a bribery case, the Special Judge for CBI Cases in Chennai sentenced a private individual (a recruiting agent) to four years of rigorous imprisonment and an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, who was the Protector of Emigrants (POE) at the time, to seven years of rigorous imprisonment. Anwar Hussain, a private individual (recruiting agent), and the accused IRS officer R Sekar, who was the Protector of Emigrants (POE) in Chennai at the time, have also been fined Rs. 18, 000. Against the aforementioned accused and others, the CBI had filed a case.
