Parliament Adjourned for the Day Amid Opposition Ruckus Over Security Breach; Protests Continue

Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed continuous disruptions on Friday, leading to their adjournment for the day. The uproar from opposition benches focused on the issue of the recent security breach, preventing any constructive proceedings in the Houses.

The Rajya Sabha Chairman made efforts to address the House and share an important announcement, but the persistent verbal sparring between the Opposition and the treasury benches led to the decision to adjourn. The Rajya Sabha is scheduled to reconvene at 11 am on December 18 (Monday).

Simultaneously, the Lok Sabha faced a similar scenario as the Opposition’s uproar resulted in the adjournment of the House for the day. Earlier in the day, both Houses had been adjourned until 2 pm due to the ongoing ruckus.

In the Rajya Sabha, the chaos erupted when three Union Ministers made separate statements on government business, and Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar disallowed 23 notices served by opposition MPs under Rule 267, seeking suspension of business for the day to discuss the December 13 security breach.

Opposition members, dissatisfied with the proceedings, urged the Chair to allow a statement from the Leader of the Opposition. The Rajya Sabha Chairman then adjourned the House till 2 pm.

Meanwhile, in the Lok Sabha, opposition MPs engaged in sloganeering and protests over the security breach incident, leading to the adjournment till 2 pm. Protests continued outside the Parliament premises, with opposition parliamentarians demanding action against BJP MP Pratap Simha in connection with the security breach.

The opposition had pressed for a discussion on Thursday, moving into the Well of the House, shouting slogans, and demanding a reply from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The security breach incident continues to dominate parliamentary proceedings, hindering normal legislative activities.
