Rahul Sahai, Chair of PHDCCI Jammu, welcomed Executive Committee members and introduced newly appointed Co-Chairs, Ashish Jain and Raj Dua. The meeting saw the formation of two Expert Committees, led by Arush Mahajan for IT and Shantnu Gupta for Law & Taxation. Sahai highlighted past achievements and presented upcoming initiatives for the year, urging support for the National Level Programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in Jammu. Discussions in the meeting covered critical issues, including infrastructure challenges for new units, land and power supply issues, insufficient government support for startups, and the need for local angel investors. Concerns about funding challenges from banks and the absence of local role models for startups were also addressed.
Rahul Sahai emphasized PHDCCI’s commitment to addressing industry and societal concerns, urging members’ active participation. The meeting was followed by a crucial interaction with Arun Manhas, the newly appointed Director of Industries & Commerce, Jammu. Sahai commended Mr. Manhas’s leadership and expressed confidence in the department’s progress under his guidance. Sahai stressed the pivotal role of Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jammu and Kashmir’s industrial landscape. During the interaction, concerns were raised, including challenges with industrial land development, fund sanctioning, power supply, tendering processes, and incentives for local investors.
