Assessing Nirmala Sahariya’s performance as MLA of Kishanganj Assembly Constituency

Kishanganj is one of the 200 Vidhan Sabha seats in Rajasthan, known for its rich historical heritage. The Ramgarh Greater, formed by the falling of Ulka Pind 600 crore years ago, is present here. Attractions include the Shahabad Fort, Nahargarh Fort, and other mythical and historical structures. The formation of this tribal-reserved Vidhan Sabha seat was done by combining 39 Gram Panchayats of Kishanganj and 36 Gram Panchayats of Shahabad. Currently, this seat is under the control of the Congress, and Nirmala Sahariya is the MLA from here.
Talking about the political history of the Kishanganj Vidhan Sabha seat, in the last 5 elections, there has been tough competition between Congress and BJP. In 1998, Heeralal Sahariya of Congress won the election and represented the Vidhan Sabha. After that, in 2003, Hemraj Meena became an independent MLA. In 2008, Nirmala Sahariya of Congress became the MLA. In 2013, Lalit Meena of BJP won the election. In 2018, Nirmala Sahariya of Congress was elected as the MLA. Studying the caste composition of the Kishanganj Vidhan Sabha seat, the total number of voters here is 2,45,000. In this seat, more than 62,000 voters belong to the Sahariya community. In addition, the Kirad community has around 30,000 voters. The Dhakad community has approximately 20,000 voters. The Brahmin voters here number around 10,000. Meanwhile, Meena, Gurjar, and Muslim voters also have an impact on this seat.
Moreover, if the local issues of the Kishanganj Vidhan Sabha area are to be discussed, the main issue here is the problem of drinking water. Even today, there is a need for basic facilities in this area. There is no solution to water drainage during the rainy season. During the rains, dozens of villages get submerged in floods. Farmers do not get water for irrigation on time. In recent years, illegal business and crime have increased rapidly in this area, causing trouble to the public. Law and order and women’s safety are major issues here. Illegal mining on the Parvati River has not been stopped. The demand to declare Kishanganj as a TSP area is pending. There is a shortage of doctors and staff in hospitals here. There is a shortage of employees in government offices. Similarly, there has been no development work in the education sector. And even today, many villages do not have proper roads.
MLA Nirmala Sahariya claims that during her tenure, development work of 19 crore 50 lakh rupees was carried out with the MLA fund. The MLA claims to have implemented high-tech resources in PHC and CHC. Restoration of the historical fort was done. Kelwara was declared a municipality. Construction of the cremation ground and construction of the boundary walls of government schools were done. The net of CC roads was spread in the Vidhan Sabha area.
