Hanumangarh is one of the 200 seats in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Currently, this seat is held by the Congress party, and its MLA is Vinod Kumar. Speaking about the political history of this seat, the Congress has won this seat four times in elections from 1990 until now, while the BJP has won it three times. In 1990, Vinod Kumar of the Congress became an MLA from here. In the 1993 elections, Ram Pratap of the BJP won and became an MLA. He continued to hold the seat by winning again in 1998, raising the BJP’s flag in the Hanumangarh Legislative Assembly. In the 2003 elections, Vinod Kumar of the Congress regained power and was elected as the MLA. He also secured victory in 2008. Then, in the 2013 Assembly elections, Dr Ram Pratap of the BJP won. In 2018, the people of Hanumangarh once again blessed Vinod Kumar with victory, and he became the MLA.
Regarding the caste demographics in the Hanumangarh constituency, there are a total of 2,90,000 voters. Among them, there are 90,000 voters from the Scheduled Caste (Anusuchit Jati). The seat has 83,000 Jat, Jat Sikh, and Bishnoi voters. There are 40,000 voters from Other Backward Classes (OBC) communities. The Muslim voters number around 30,000. Additionally, there are 12,000 Brahmin voters, 7,000 Rajput voters, and 28,000 voters from the Agarwal, Aroda, and Vaishya communities.
If we talk about the issues in the Hanumangarh constituency, there is a lack of employment opportunities for the youth in this city. In addition to this, the non-starting of a cooperative mill, the drinking water plan, and incomplete work on the Satipura Overbridge are major problems in the area. Also, rural areas face challenges in healthcare facilities and resources in government schools. The broken roads in the area are also a problem.
Now, let’s discuss the claims made by the legislator. Legislator Vinod Kumar says that he has spent 18 crore rupees from his fund for development.
MLA Vinod Kumar claims that during his tenure, he has worked on opening a medical college and a women’s college. In addition to this, he includes in his claims the construction of town halls and roads in the city, including an Agro Food Park. MLA Vinod Kumar doesn’t stop there; he says that a 300-bed hospital and a nursing college are his contributions. Polytechnic colleges, ITIs, and DIET offices have all been established. The legislator asserts that as many developments have occurred in the past five years as did not happen in the previous 70 years. He states that the city has benefited significantly from the good work carried out during the Congress government.
