Due to continuous heavy rains in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, the threat of floods is once again looming in UP. More than 250 mm of rain was recorded in Barabanki and Bahraich in the last 24 hours. Due to this, Jamuria drain and Reth river overflowed in Barabanki on Tuesday also.
More than 7000 people are affected by the flood in Barabanki and about 4500 people have been shifted to relief camps. In Ayodhya too, due to disruption, schools were closed till class 8th. The National Assessment Test (NET) to be held in schools on Tuesday was postponed. Earlier, 23 people had died in the rain on Monday.
Above 50 mm rain in 10 districts of UP
According to the Meteorological Department data, after the rains that started from Monday, more than 50 mm of rain has been recorded in 10 districts in the last 48 hours. There has been more than 100 mm rainfall in 7 districts. The effect of rain has started becoming visible on Ganga and other tributaries. The effect of rapid increase in water upstream was that 35 thousand 783 cusecs of water was released into the Ganga from Kanpur Barrage on Tuesday, whereas Monday’s discharge was only 11 thousand cusecs. On Tuesday, 46 thousand 458 cusecs of water was released from Narora Dam and 72 thousand 384 cusecs of water from Haridwar in the downstream of the river.
Major problem in Barabanki
In UP, the biggest problem has been seen in Barabanki. There is heavy waterlogging in many localities of Barabanki. NDRF and SDRF teams have arrived to take people to safe places. Some teams have been called from Ayodhya also. About 26 boats are rescuing people to safe places. Sharda river is flowing near the danger mark in Palia Kalan of Lakhimpur and the water is continuously rising.
