Maratha reservation issue pushes Maha govt on backfoot

With the demand for Maratha reservation gaining momentum in Maharashtra, the Mahayuti government is shedding its sweat.
To resolve this issue, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis brainstormed with other ministers in a closed room for about 4 hours. People have been agitating for Maratha reservation in Jalna since September 1. Shinde government’s problems have increased after the lathi-charge incident. Aggravating the situation further is the stubbornness of Manoj Jarange Patil, who is on a hunger strike, demanding reservation. He has given an ultimatum of 4 days to the state government to issue an ordinance on the Maratha reservation.
In view of the ongoing movement for Maratha reservation, the state government is preparing to bring a special bill on Maratha reservation. The state government is also planning to call a one-day special session of the legislature to immediately approve this proposal. On the other hand, Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders led by Aditya Thackeray met Governor Ramesh Bais on Wednesday regarding the issue of lathi-charge on protesters during the demand for Maratha reservation movement in Jalna. These leaders submitted a memorandum to the Governor demanding the resignation of Fadnavis. Aditya Thackeray said that people should know the General Dyer in the Shiv Sena-BJP grand alliance government among CM Shinde, Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
