A team from the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Uttar Pradesh unit has been assembled to manage the upcoming legislative Assembly elections at the end of the in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. About 100 legislators from Uttar Pradesh will be sent for the first phase of the elections. Before these teams are deployed in the electoral battle in Bhopal, legislators will be given training on 19 August at Bhopal’s Kanha Fun City. National incharge of the organisation, Shiv Prakash has been given the responsibility of providing this training to the team. All legislators part of the camp were instructed to reach Bhopal yesterday. Meanwhile, the BJP announced its candidates for 39 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday. Over 100 legislators from Uttar Pradesh will be deployed in each legislative assembly constituency in both states. While the BJP holds power in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan is governed by the Congress. Those sent to Rajasthan will first prepare the ground and have been tasked with door-to-door campaigning. Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh, legislators are directed to counter the Congress’ promotions and advertising. They have been directed to gather geographical, social, and cultural information about the constituencies assigned to them. After this, they will take command of their respective assembly areas. They will oversee election management, including booth management. Before this, they will spend a few days touring their constituencies and gathering feedback. They will also assess whether there is any anti-incumbency sentiment against the current
legislators. In the first phase, legislators are expected to stay in their constituencies for a week. Prior to this, in June, the BJP had sent a team of over 1,000 coordinators from UP to the two target states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated training sessions for
these coordinators on 27 June. They have also been tasked with strengthening election
booths in each legislative assembly. Along with this, the BJP has begun appointing responsible coordinators and deputy coordinators for these states’ elections. These coordinators and deputy coordinators will oversee the entire election management and short-term expansion efforts. They have been assigned specifically to constituencies where Uttar Pradesh’s influence is substantial, or where UP residents have migrated.
In the Gujarat elections last year, over 5,000 BJP workers from Uttar Pradesh managed the electoral campaign. Prakash Pal, regional president of the Kanpur region, managed 64 seats, which were primarily controlled by workers from UP.
