Flashback: Aishwarya Rai recalls playing Nandini in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’

Mumbai, April 26 Many films come and go, but “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,” starring Aishwarya Rai, will live on in our memories forever.
Despite being on the market for 23 years, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” continues to be a fan favourite thanks to Aishwarya, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn’s moving performances, as well as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s vision.

The enduring film tells the tale of newlywed Vanraj (Ajay), who decides to marry his wife Nandini (Aishwarya) after learning that she is in love with another guy, Sameer (Salman). The plot changed, though, when Nandini changed her mind and chose to stay with Vanraj (Ajay) rather than flee with Sameer.
It’s interesting to note that Aishwarya is reprising her role as Nandini in Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan.”

Aishwarya, who plays Nandini in both films, was in Mumbai on Tuesday for a promotional event for ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’.
Aishwarya experienced a feeling of nostalgia in response to the query.
“Nice coincidence, really. Amazing, indeed, to say the least. Even Nandini in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was incredibly memorable, in fact. She continues to hold a special place in the hearts of the audience and, of course, in mine. I’m very grateful that I was given the opportunity to play Nandini back then. And it was with Sanjay Bhansali ji; today, of course, I got to portray Nandini in Ponniyan Selvan with my Mani Garu. It’s truly a blessing that I  had the opportunity to portray such powerful, complex, and influential women in the lives of so many other women. I’m quite grateful because there is a relatability, Aishwarya stated.

In the two-part historical drama directed by Mani Ratnam, Aishwarya portrays two characters: Nandini and Oomai Rani. On April 28, Ponniyin Selvan 2 is scheduled for release.
