For the first time, India reported over 1 lakh coronavirus recoveries in a single day, improving the country’s recovery rate to 80.86 percent. The number of fresh cases also dropped below 76,000 after two weeks. Meanwhile,1,01,468 Covid-19 patients recuperated, while 75,809 new cases were also recorded in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall figures in India to 55,62,663 Covid infections and 44,97,867 recoveries. 

Another massive spike of 18,390 Covid-19 cases in India’s worst affected state Maharashtra pushed the overall Covid-19 tally to 12,42,770. With 392 people succumbing to the infection, the death toll in the state went up to 33,407.The national capital recorded 3,816 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to over 2.53 lakh, while 37 fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 5,051. In total, 59,013 samples were tested and results of 3,816 came positive. 

Haryana reported 29 more fatalities due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,206, while 1,795 fresh cases pushed the state’s infection tally to 1,14,870. According to the state health department, four deaths each were reported from Gurugram and Panchkula, three each from Sirsa and Ambala, two each from Faridabad, Karnal, Hisar, Yamunanagar and Jind, and one each from Kaithal, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Panipat and Rohtak. Gujarat’s Covid-19 tally rose to 1,26,169 with the addition of 1,402 new cases in the last 24 hours, while fatalities grew to 3,355 with 16 more deaths. Meanwhile, 1,321 patients were discharged, taking the number of recovered cases in the state to 1,06,412. There are 16,402 active cases in the state currently. 

The state of West Bengal saw at least 62 more people succumbing to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll 4,483, while 3,182 fresh cases pushed the tally in the state to 2,31,484. The discharge rate rose to 87.28 per cent, as 3,047 people recovered from the infection, taking the total number of people who have defeated the disease so far to 2,02,030. Jammu and Kashmir recorded 1,235 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking its tally to 66,261, while 18 more fatalities pushed its death count to 1,042 in the last 24 hours. It was for the 20th consecutive day that the number of fresh cases crossed the 1,000-mark in a 24-hour period. Tamil Nadu reported 5,406 recoveries while 5,337 new Covid-19 cases in the last twenty-four hours, taking the caseload to 5,52,674. The death toll mounted to 8,947 with an addition of 76 more fatalities.
