The Karnataka assembly polls to be held on 10 May. The BJP has clarified its position that the party’s approach will be similar to that of the Gujarat elections, which involved fielding leaders from all over the state in the campaign.

As per BJP sources, 50 to 60 leaders from other states, besides Union Ministers, MPs, and MLAs, will be given charge of campaigning in the upcoming state assembly polls.

A meeting was held between BJP General Secretary (Organisation), BL Santosh, and state election in-charge and Union Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. The party leaders were asked to ensure the party’s victory in the 10 May elections.

Some of the prominent attendees in the meeting were Union Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary, MP Nishikant Dubey, Ramesh Bidhuri, Sanjay Bhatia, Bihar MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, UP MLA Satish Dwivedi, and Andhra Pradesh leader P Sudhakar Reddy, who has vast experience managing numerous elections, the source said.

The party has been focusing on 115 out of 224 assembly constituencies in the state. Every leader has been assigned to 2-3 seats, and they were asked to increase the party’s chance of victory where a close fight is on the cards.

The polls will be held on 10 May for 224 assembly seats in Karnataka. In the previous elections, the BJP bagged 121 seats, while the Congress and the JDS in coalition won 70 and 30 seats, respectively.
