Indian openers make promising start after Australia scores mammoth 480 runs

India got off to a steady start at the end of the second day’s play in the final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill negotiated the Australian attack without any hue and cry.

Both the openers have done well and scored 36 in just 10 overs at stumps on Day 2. Gill was looking more aggressive and hit a six as well. Both looked confident about going ahead tomorrow.

Day 3 is crucial for both sides in this Test; so far in the series, India’s top orders have failed to score heavily. They have a chance to make amends and play big knocks on the good batting track.

Pressure will be on the Australian bowlers as well to take the Indian wickets and create a chance to square the series.

Earlier, the visitors scored a mammoth total of 480 runs. Khawaja and Green both scored remarkable hundreds on arguably an easy track and put their team on top. Khawaja kept one end intact and played a patient knock of 180 off 422 balls.

Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers and successfully applied the brakes, achieved a 6-fer, and stopped the tourists on 480.

India has a massive job to do on Day 3 and expects the wicket to stay the same.
