A 10-year-old Muslim boy was allegedly beaten by a tribal man and made to chant “Jai Shri Ram” on Thursday night in the communally sensitive Khandwa area of BJP ruled- Madhya Pradesh.

When the Class 5 student was heading to a private coaching center for tuition, the incident took place in the Pandhana area of the South West MP district.

An accused identified as Ajay Bhil stopped him and ordered him to chant “Jai Sri Ram.” The child refrained from chanting “Jai Shri Ram.” The accused, Ajay Bhil, thrashed the child until he shouted the slogan before releasing him in retaliation for the kid’s defiance. The boy fled home in fear and told his parents what had happened to him.

The boy’s father made a complaint at the Pandhana police station. An FIR has been filed against the accused Ajay on the basis of the boy’s father’s complaint under IPC Sections 295A (outraging or insulting religious sensibilities) and 323, according to Deputy SP Anil Singh Chouhan of Khandwa Police Station (voluntarily causing hurt).
