With Afghanistan being earthquake prone country, United Nations High Commission for Refugees has decided to build one thousand ‘earthquake-reslient’ houses for over 8,000 people in the country’s Paktika province. In a tweet, the UN refugee agency in Afghanistan wrote, “UNHCR Afghanistan is moving swiftly to provide 1000 earthquake-resilient houses to more than 8000 people in Barmal District before snows isolate the remote region.

UNHCR will be providing material and supporting building costs to construct the homes. In addition to this, UNHCR teams have met with numerous communities to showcase the project and simultaneously identified the worst affected families in order to implement this community oriented project.
