In an unyielding effort to eradicate the scourge of drugs from the community, the police in North Kashmir have successfully arrested seven drug peddlers, seizing contraband substances from their possession.
At a checkpoint established at Pethseer Crossing, the police party from Police Station Tarzoo intercepted Adil Ashraf Khan, a resident of Pethseer Sopore, and recovered 248 SpasmoProxyvon Plus capsules during a search. Adil Ashraf Khan, previously involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2020, 2021, and 2022, has been apprehended and is currently in custody at Police Station Tarzoo.
In Handwara, a police checkpoint at Chotipora intercepted a TATA Magic vehicle (JK05B-1055) with two individuals on board – Mudasir Ahmad Dar and Danish Ah Bhat, both residents of Batkot Handwara. A search resulted in the seizure of 126 grams of Charas. The arrested individuals are now in police custody, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has been impounded.
Similarly, in Baramulla, a non-local individual named Arhan Khan was arrested by the police party from Police Post Delina at a checkpoint in Juhama-Kanispora. The search revealed 14 grams of Brown Sugar in his possession. Arhan Khan is currently in custody at PS Baramulla.
In another operation, a police party from Police Post Mirgund intercepted a Scorpio vehicle (DL10CT-1577) at a checkpoint in Jheel Bund Pattan. The three individuals on board – Zubair Ahmad Sheikh, Imran Hussain Malla, and Mohd Amin Waza – were found with 28 grams of Brown Sugar. They have been arrested and are in custody at PS Pattan.
Cases under the relevant sections of the law have been registered at the respective police stations, and investigations have been initiated.
The police urge the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other crimes by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialing 112. Cooperation from the general public is essential in curbing the menace of drugs, and the police assure the community that stringent legal action will be taken against criminals.
