With 13,823 infections reported in last twenty-four hours, India’s Covid-19 caseload rose to 1,05,95,660, while the recoveries surged to 1,02,45,741. The death toll due to the disease increased to 1,52,718 in the country as 162 new fatalities were recorded. The total number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,02,45,741, pushing the national Covid-19 recovery rate to 96.70 percent. The Covid-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.44 percent.
Meanwhile, total 7.86 lakh healthcare workers have received Covid-19 vaccine till the evening of the fifth day of the immunisation drive, according to a provisional report of the Union Health Ministry. In last twenty-four hours, 1,12,007 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 20 states and Union Territories.
Maharashtra reported 3,015 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24-hours, taking the state’s coronavirus tally to 19,97,992. The death toll has gone up to 50,582 with 59 more people succumbing to the virus. Meanwhile, 4,589 Covid-19 patients were discharged after recovery taking the total recoveries in Maharashtra to 18,99,428. The state has 46769 active cases.
Haryana reported four more coronavirus deaths, taking the toll to 2,997, while 105 new cases pushed the infection tally to 2.67 lakh. The number of active cases in the state was 1,734, while as many as 2.62 lakh people have recuperated, taking the recovery rate to 98.23 per cent.
Uttar Pradesh recorded eight Covid-19 linked fatalities in last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 8,591, while 390 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 5,97,628. The number of active cases of the disease in the state stands at 7,873. Odisha registered 157 more positive coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 3,33,723. The death toll remained at 1,902. The tally includes 1,717 active cases and 3,30,051 recovered cases.
With the addition of 490 coronavirus positive cases, Gujarat’s infection count increased to 2,57,342. As the virus claimed the lives of two patients, the death toll went up to 4,371. A total of 707 patients were discharged, which pushed the number of recovered cases in the state to 2,47,223.
Karnataka reported 501 new Covid-19 cases and four related fatalities, taking the total infection count to 9,33,578 and the toll to 12,185. The day also saw 665 patients getting discharged after recovery.
Jammu and Kashmir recorded 109 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 1,23,647. Active cases stand at 1,099 in the Union Territory and 1,20,625 have recovered till date.
