500 terrorists waiting in POK to cross over: IB

Intelligence Bureau report says that all terrorist camps and around 17 launch pads in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir are at full capacity. Keran sector and Poonch sector have become preferred areas for infiltration of terrorists.

A new Intelligence Bureau (IB) report states that about 500 terrorists in PakistanOccupied-Kashmir (POK) are ready to infiltrate the border using various launching pads.

The IB has issued an alert in this regard as Pakistan Army’s SSG commandos have been seen on some of these launch pads providing cover for infiltration. The Keran sector in the Valley and Poonch sector in the Jammu region have become preferred areas for infiltration of terrorists. The Daily Guardian has the intelligence agency report which states the number of terrorists in different regions across the border.

The IB report states that 31 Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)/ Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)/Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorists were identified at the Gurez sector. These terrorists were waiting to use the Sonar and Losar launch pad in POK as well as the Sher Khan Top. Furthermore, Machhil sector, Keran sector, Tangdhar sector and Naugam sector had indications of more than 135 terrorists waiting to cross using launch pads. Most of them being from either LeT, JeM or al-Badr terrorist groups with the highest number being at Keran, where 85 terrorists were said to be lodged.

Uri, Poonch, Krishna Ghati and Bhimber Gali had a further 130-odd terrorists waiting to do operations in Forward Defended Localities of the Indian Army. This was one of the main groups that was being supported by SSG as well as BAT Commandos (Pakiatsn’s guerrilla-trained terrorists). These groups were planning multiple attacks including IED blasts and attacks on personnel.

Rajouri, Naushera, Sunderbani, Kathua and Hiranagar are the other sectors mentioned in the report. With more than 115 terrorists in these areas waiting to cross the border, Indian agencies have been on high alert as these groups have been planning to pass on arms and ammunitions to the Indian side. This group has been tasked with strengthening the local modules to attack the Indian forces on various fronts.

The proactive stance of the Indian Army has led to wiping out of most terrorists in the Kashmir valley. This had led to the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and the Pakistan Army become extremely agitated, which is why they have been trying to send more terrorists across the border. So far, this year, more than 30 different terrorist commanders and over 150 other terrorists have been killed by Indian security forces.

Security agencies are alert to intelligence reports which indicate the possibility of a major threat in the run-up to the festive season. A senior IB official told The Daily Guardian that all the terrorist camps and around 17 launch pads in POK are at full capacity. These terrorists are desperate to infiltrate with the help of Pakistani Army.

Pakistan has consistently been aiding and abetting infiltration for more than 30 years now. There have been several ceasefire violations by Pakistan’s Army to support the infiltrating terrorists. Indian security agencies have been on high alert on the international border and Line of Control.
