In socially varied countries, one undoubtedly finds innumerable festivals being celebrated in different states and cities, among people belonging to different races, cultures and traditions. There are some festivals which are weird. There are a lot of such absurd festivals being celebrated across the globe from which, one is not aware of or has not ever heard of.
The Boryeong Mud Festival, South Korea
Among all the festivals in South Korea, it is the Boryeong Mud Festival that probably attracts the largest number of visitors worldwide. The mud, which is transported from the Boryeong mud flats, is considered to be rich in minerals which benefits one’s skin, and that’s how this festival came into origin.
Tomatina Festival, Spain
Paint the town red by throwing tomatoes galore. There is no better or rather the bizarre way to let go off all the rage within you. La Tomatina is a food fight festival. Over one hundred thousand metric tons of tomatoes are pelted, thrown, tossed, chucked, catapulted, fired and launched at thousands of people in just an hour’s time.
Monkey Buffet Festival, Thailand
Just imagine a feast, servings over two tons of grilled sausage, fresh fruit, ice cream and other treats. Does it sound mouth-watering to you? Well then don’t hurry as all the treats are for monkeys. Over 600 monkeys are invited to go crazy over food every year on 25th November in the small province of Lopburi, Thailand.
MwakaKogwa, Tanzania, Africa
A four-day-long celebration, MwakaKogwa is best observed at Zanzibar, It is a celebration of the Shirazi New Year and some of the events include the burning of the hut and mock fights. These fights are between men who defend themselves with banana stems and this fighting, in which everyone gets a chance, is said to let everyone air their grievances and so clear the air as the New Year rolls in.
Go Blonde Festival, Latvia
The Go Blonde Festival is celebrated yearly in Latvia. It involves blond women dressed in pink going on a parade in Riga in order to promote economic growth and cheer up people. The event is organized by the Latvian Association of Blondes.
