5.4-magnitude earthquake rocks Jammu and Kashmir; people in Delhi feel vibrations

Vibrations from an earthquake were felt in most parts of north India, including Delhi-NCR, on Tuesday afternoon. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the 5.4-magnitude earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir occurred 30 kilometres southeast of Kishtwar.

As per the EMSC, the earthquake had a depth of 60 km (37.28 miles) and had its epicentre 99 km (miles) north of Pathankot in Punjab.

Around 1:30 pm, the earthquake was felt. There have been no reports of damage to property or loss of life so far.

Myanmar was shaken earlier on Tuesday by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.7, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The  NCS made it clear that, the earthquake struck Myanmar on Tuesday at 2:53 am (IST) at a depth of 10 kilometres.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported  that Myanmar was struck by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 earlier on May 31.

This afternoon at 1:33 PM, a 5.4 Richter magnitude earthquake struck Doda, J&K.

“The earthquake frightened school children. People in shops hurried out. It spooked me. According to a native in Srinagar, “This was more intense than the tremors last week.” Tremors were also felt in Lahore, Pakistan.
