Chandigarh Forest and Wildlife Department released vacancies of 17 Forest Guards recently, and 38000 people from across the country applied for this job and appeared in the Examination. Results would be out soon this week but many people who applied for this job are ironically overqualified.
For the Forest Guard, one has to be 10th pass, yet people who have Post graduation degrees applied. This is not the first time when a huge number of candidates applied for the post. Nevertheless, this time, the ratio of available seats and appearing candidates is really astonishing and indeed challenging for the Chandigarh Forest and Wildlife Department to handle the job applications, says an ex-bureaucrat of Chandigarh Forest and Wildlife Department.
Earlier in the year 2019 in Punjab, 16000 people applied for 8 constable vacancies in Ferozpur. Whereas in Haryana for the Single post of a peon, 3000 postgraduate males applied for an interview.
As per the official data of the Unemplyment Rate of India, from Jan 2020 to July 2021, Punjab faced severe unemployment rates.
“Around 50% candidates participated in this examination from different parts of the country, we hope that we are going to get extremely qualified and committed forest officials for the better management of forest resources, flora, and fauna in Chandigarh,” Dr. Abdul Qayum, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Chandigarh Forest and Wildlife Department, said.
