Three Bengali actresses and models Pallavi Dey, Bidisha De Majumder and Manjusha Niyogi died by suicide in a span of 15 days. They were good friends.
The bodies of the three friends were found hanging from their houses and the type of suicide is similar. They were said to be victims of depression.
The first mysterious death was of Pallavi on 15 May. Her body was recovered from Garfar flat in South Kolkata. Pallavi’s live-in partner Sagnik Ghosh told police that he had gone out to buy cigarettes and when he returned, he found her body hanging. Her family lodged a murder complaint with eGarfa police station. She was in Bengali TV serial ‘Mon Mane Na’.
The bedsheet was wrapped around her neck. Pallavi’s father said that she could not take such a step. Someone must have killed her. He later lodged a written complaint against Sagnik, his girlfriend Andrila and others. After a long interrogation, the police arrested Sagnik.
As the days go by, new characters and multiple demands are coming up. Although the initial autopsy report revealed it was suicide, the police are working to find out the exact reason.
On 25 May, Bidisha’s body was recovered from her house in Ramgarh Colony in Nagerbazar. Police are investigating whether the model had committed suicide or was it something else.
Bidisha’s body was found hanging with a scarf around her neck. The door was locked from inside. A suicide note was also found besides her body.
After Pallavi’s untimely death, Bidisha commented on it on Facebook. After her mysterious death on Wednesday, the Facebook post of the actress came up in practice. Bidisha wrote, “What does all this mean? I could not accept,” Bidisha shared Pallavi’s picture on Facebook.
According to police sources, a case of unnatural death has been registered. Bidisha, known for her bridal makeup and photoshoots, had a boyfriend named Anubhav Bera. Their relationship was not going well, as per reports, Anubhav cheated on her and she could not recover from the shock, which is said to be the reason why Bidisha was depressed.
On 26 May, Manjusha’s body was recovered from Patuli’s house. She was suffering from depression since Bidisha’s death, claims the family. As per family sources, Bidisha and Manjusha were close friends. What exactly caused Bidisha ‘s death? Career ebb or relationship tension? Depression or was she feeling suicidal?
As per the police, a suicide note was recovered from her house, from which two sources matched. She was also a victim of depression. But did the pressure of her career push Bidisha towards death?
