In Sangrur, within the electoral constituency of Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, boxer Kulbir Singh, aged 22, tragically died from a drug overdose. Kulbir was the sole son of a financially struggling family. Influenced by bad company, he began consuming heroin, which he sourced from a colony in Sunam. Upon being discovered unconscious at home, his family promptly rushed him to the hospital. However, the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Kulbir’s mother, Malkit Kaur, revealed that her son frequently purchased heroin from the Sabra gang. She had lodged complaints with the police multiple times, but no substantial action was taken. Malkit mentioned that Kulbir had even earned medals at the national level in boxing.

Some time ago, Kulbir fell into the wrong company, leading him to become ensnared by drug addiction. Despite notifying the police about his situation, no effective measures were implemented. Malkit Kaur expressed her wish to inform Cabinet Minister Meet Hayer about the prevalent drug trafficking in the area, emphasizing the urgent need for action against drug traffickers who appear to operate with impunity in the region.
