Young woman, Shimla Kushwah, was allegedly kidnapped and killed by her father, brother, and other relatives in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district. Her partially burnt body was found by the police, who have now launched an investigation into this suspected case of “honor killing.”
The Incident
Shimla Kushwah and her husband, Ravindra Bheel, had married a year ago against her family’s wishes due to caste differences. The couple went to a bank in Baran district’s Harnawadshahaji on Thursday. It was here that Shimla’s father, brother, and three other relatives abducted her.
Police Action
Upon receiving a distress call from Ravindra Bheel, the police was alerted and rushed to the scene. They found Shimla’s body, 80% burnt, at a cremation ground in Sourit village. The body was handed over to the Baran police for further investigation. Harnwadashahaji DSP Jai Prakash Atal said that this case belongs to ‘Honor Killing’.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have booked 10-12 individuals, including Shimla’s parents and brother. All suspects are currently at large, and efforts are being made to apprehend them. A case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Harnawdashahaji police station. The body will be returned to Shimla’s husband’s family after a post-mortem examination.
