1,253 railway stations identified for development under Adarsh Station scheme by 2022-2023: Govt

The Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha on Friday that 1,253 railway stations had been identified for development. Vaishnaw said that out of 1,253 stations 1,215 stations have been developed under the Adarsh Station scheme.

Railway Minister added, “Under ‘Adarsh’ Station Scheme, 1,253 stations have been identified for development, out of which 1,215 stations so far have been developed and the remaining stations are targeted to be developed under Adarsh Station Scheme by Financial Year 2022-2023.”

While giving a written reply to a query of BJP MP Narhari Amin Vaishnaw made the announcement.

“Whether the beautification of railway stations of the country is being done by the government. Ministry of Railways has formulated various schemes like Model, Modern, and Adarsh Station Scheme for the upgradation and beautification of stations on Indian Railways,” Vaishnaw responded to the query.

Besides, Vaishnaw said, 52 stations have been identified so far under this scheme. “During the Financial Year 2021-2022, an amount of Rs 2,344.55 crore was allocated under Plan Head-53, and in the current Financial Year 2022-2023, an amount of Rs 2,700 crore has been allocated under Plan Head-53,” Vaishnaw said.

On a question “whether railway stations located in Gujarat have been selected under this scheme,” the minister responded, “All 32 stations have been developed under the Adarsh Station Scheme.”

The stations which are to be identified of state Gujarat are Ambli Road, Bechraji, Bhaktinagar, Bhanvad, Bhatariya, Dahod, Gandhidham, Himatnagar, Jamnagar, Kadi, Khambliya, Kim, Oat Kosamba, Lalpurjam, Maninagar, Navsari, New Bhuj, Okha, Palanpur, Sabarmati, Siddhpur, Udhana, Una, Unia, Vadnagar, Vijapur, Visnagar, Vyara, Gandhinagar Capital, Sabarmati BG, and Patan.

However, under the scheme five stations of Gujarat such as Udhna, Surat, Somnath, Sabarmati BG, MG, and New Bhuj have been identified.
