Two groups of Trinamool Congress reportedly clashed at Ganda village of Paduma panchayat in Dubarajpur block on Tuesday afternoon, leading to a blast.

While one group was allegedly led by president Mukul Mandal, the other was by acting president Tarun Gorai.

So far, six persons were injured in the bombing. The Trinamool, however, has denied all the allegations.

According to reports, the block officials went to survey the village from Dubrajpur block on Tuesday. When they were conducting a survey near the house of Gaffar Khan, the booth president of Mukul group, the supporters of Gorai asked Khan when a survey would be conducted in their neighbourhood. This led to an argument.

Shooting and bombing reportedly started between the two groups and six members of Tarun Gorai group were seriously injured. They were taken to Dubrajpur Rural Hospital. Six have been arrested so far. Their political identities are yet to be identified.

Local Trinamool leaders said the incident has nothing to do with the party and they claimed that the clashes were among the BJP leaders.

Trinamool leader Mukul Mandal said, “The party will not bother about those with whom the Trinamool has nothing to do.”

Trinamool clashes are not new in the area. These happen, especially in Birbhum district. However, the question arises about the availability of bombs and bullets in the area.

BJP leader Joy Prakash Majumder said, “If there is a clash between the BJP factions, then it must be admitted that the BJP is very strong in that area. Everyone knows that there is a land dispute between the two grassroots groups.”

In Birbhum, BJP’s Jela president Dhruv Saha said, “Tolabaji companies are operating in the district. The competition is on for who can raise how much. The BJP has no factionalism in the area. It is all grassroots factionalism.”

Birbhum District Superintendent of Police Nagendra Tripathi said six people have been arrested in the incident. Police forces have been deployed in the village and investigation is on.
