After the Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared to repeal the three contentious agricultural laws on November 19, 2021, the leaders from ruling and opposite faction in Haryana, though welcoming the step, reflected contrasting views. The BJP-JJP led government continues to say that the central government is putting it is best for the betterment of the agrarian community across the state. In reaction to this, the Congress along with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) took on the ruling faction saying that the repealing of the agricultural laws clearly indicates the huge victory of the farmers as well as the democracy.
The social media trend in the state showed that all stalwarts of the ruling faction were favouring the decision of the Centre.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that the decision pertaining to the withdrawal of agricultural laws is a welcome step which showcases the positive attitude of the government towards the farmers. These laws were brought into existence for the welfare of the farming community but few of the farmers leaders could not understand the nature of these farming laws which led to the decision regarding to the repealing of these laws.
Although, the Congress stalwart Bhupender Singh Hooda thanked the Prime Minister for withdrawing the agricultural laws but at the same time he took a dig at the central government saying that the sacrifices and the struggle of the farmers forced the ruling faction to take decision. It has been almost a year since the farmers are agitating against these laws.
While reacting to this, the INLD legislator Abhay Singh Chautala whose resignation against the the agricultural laws nesseciated the conduct of Ellenabad by-poll and was re-elected, attacked the ruling faction and said that the announcement of withdrawal of these laws stands as the victory of the farmers. What is the crux of the democracy is that be it Prime Minister or the Chief Minister , the advice of all ministers of the ruling factions must be taken into consideration. Before the bill was brought , the farmers’ unions were not invited to discuss the issue which led to the passing of these laws in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The other senior leaders of the ruling faction BJP namely OP Dhankhar, JP Dalal, the Agriculture Minister and Anil Vij, the Home Minister supported the decision of the central government and appealed the farmers to go back home.
