Youth Congress staged a protest in Chandigarh against the alleged involvement of BJP leaders in the gang rape of a BHU student. Three men were arrested two months after the incident within the IIT-BHU campus, with the Youth Congress claiming they were BJP functionaries, as the accused had identified themselves as BJP IT Cell members on Facebook.
Secretary Ravi Rana highlighted the concerning rise in sexual assault cases in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency. To draw attention to such incidents under the government’s protection, the Youth Congress surrounded the BJP office during the demonstration.
General Secretary Sukhdev Singh asserted that BJP’s IT cell members, Kunal Pandey,
Abhishek Chauhan, and Saksham Patel, were strategically sent to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections to evade arrest.
Former chief Luv Kumar accused the BJP of sheltering rapists, citing leaders like Kuldeep Sengar and Swami Chinmayanand. He alleged that the party is actively working to protect individuals accused of sexual assault.
Vinayak Bangia emphasised the urgency of the arrests, stating that if apprehended before the elections, it would have sent a powerful message nationwide. He called upon Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to address the situation and take decisive action against the accused BJP officials.
