In a remarkable turn of events, Ragini Das has been appointed as the Head of Startups at Google India. This milestone comes 12 years after she was not selected during Google’s final interview round in 2013. Reflecting on this journey, Ragini shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Life really does come full circle.”

A Glimpse into Ragini Das’s Background

Born in Gurugram, Ragini completed her schooling at Chettinad Vidyashram in Chennai, where she also served as the Cultural Secretary. She pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Lancaster University. During her time at university, she interned with Standard Chartered Bank and other organizations, focusing on market research and developing business plans for the Indian market.

Career Path Leading to Google

Ragini’s professional journey began in 2012 with Trident Group India, where she handled domestic marketing and later expanded her role to oversee marketing in Europe and the US. In 2013, she joined Zomato as a Sales and Marketing Manager, eventually becoming part of the founding team for Zomato Gold in 2017. Her efforts contributed to launching Zomato Gold in 10 international markets, including Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

In 2020, Ragini co-founded leap.club, a platform aimed at empowering women through networking, professional opportunities, and curated events. Despite its eventual shutdown in June 2025, Leap.club served thousands of women and made a significant impact on the startup ecosystem.

Vision for the Future at Google

In her new role at Google, Ragini is focused on supporting thriving startups globally. She emphasized the mission to connect startups with the right people, products, and best practices to foster growth.

Ongoing Advocacy for Women in Startups

Beyond her entrepreneurial ventures, Ragini continues to advocate for women in the startup ecosystem. She serves as the Chair of the Women in Startups Committee at FICCI, working towards greater visibility and access to capital for women-led ventures.
