US President Donald Trump has distanced himself from America’s involvement in the Ukraine-Russia war, calling it “Biden’s war” and insisting it would have never happened if he had been in power. As Ukraine lowers its military age cap and prepares to send older civilians to the frontlines, Trump questioned America’s continued support for what he called a “bottom of the barrel” draft.
He claimed he was working to get the US “out” of this conflict and reiterated that he had successfully prevented multiple wars during his term, including those involving India and Pakistan, Iran and Iraq. His comments have sparked new debate over America’s global strategy and leadership responsibility in ongoing conflicts.
Trump Shifts Blame for Ukraine War to Biden
Trump made his remarks while responding to a question about the US funding Ukraine. Referring to Ukraine’s move to send citizens over 60 to the battlefield, Trump said, “This is Biden’s war… it should have never happened, would have never happened.”
He emphasised that under his leadership, such a war would not have occurred. “We’re working very hard to get us out,” he added, suggesting that the current administration had dragged the US into unnecessary foreign entanglements.

Trump Touts Track Record of Preventing Wars
The President did not stop at blaming Biden. He underlined his history of peace efforts. “I stopped five wars in the last five months, actually, and I’d like this to be the sixth, frankly,” Trump said confidently.
He went on to mention how he prevented escalation between India and Pakistan. “The other ones I stopped within a matter of days… almost every one of them,” he said.
Trump also referred to tensions in the Middle East. He claimed that his aggressive action against Iran’s nuclear sites averted a potential conflict with Iraq. “Had I not obliterated Iranian nuclear facilities, they would have had nuclear weapons within two months,” he declared.
Strategy of Isolation or Intervention?
Trump’s comments have brought attention to isolationist and interventionist foreign policy. He calls for diplomacy and withdrawal from Ukraine, while Biden’s administration continues to support the country militarily.
This discrepancy reflects broader political conflicts in the US, and it is not just about Ukraine, it is about how the next US president will shape America’s role on the globe.

Conflict, Criticism, and Campaigning
Trump’s remarks have political significance since Ukraine is under pressure, and international backing is waning. He asserted that he could have avoided the conflict that would strike a chord with Americans weary of war.
All that is evident is that Trump is transforming every international conflict into a home political conflict, and Biden’s approach to Ukraine is now squarely in the public eye.
