Over the Labour Day weekend, social media platforms buzzed with unverified rumours suggesting U.S. President Donald Trump’s health had taken a serious downturn, with some even falsely claiming he had died. The speculation gained traction as Trump had stayed out of the public eye for a few days, prompting questions about his whereabouts.

Trump Responds at White House

Addressing the issue directly during a press conference at the White House on Tuesday, Trump dismissed the chatter. “I didn’t see that,” he said when asked about the rumours. Quickly clarifying, he added: “That’s fake news.”

He further reassured reporters by highlighting his active schedule: “I was very active over the weekend.”

Public Attention on Trump’s Health

At 79, Trump’s health has been under close watch since he returned to the White House in January 2025. Any extended period of absence often fuels speculation online. His opponents and critics on social media have in the past used such gaps in appearances to spread misinformation.

This latest instance was one of the most widespread, trending across platforms like X and Facebook before Trump’s clarification.

This comes as President Trump currently adressing the reporters from the Oval Office with some ‘major’ announcement in the cart.  The White House has not issued any official medical statement following the speculation, but Tuesday’s appearance and comments aimed to put the matter to rest.
