The US House Oversight Committee has released more than 33,000 pages of documents about Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier who died in 2019 while waiting for trial on sex trafficking charges. The documents also include information on Epstein’s longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.

Committee chair James Comer said, “We’re in the process of uploading those documents for full transparency so everyone in America can see those documents,” adding that the release was happening “as quickly as we can get them uploaded.” “We want those to be public as soon as possible.”

The release gives the public a clearer look at Epstein’s activities and shows why the case continues to attract strong political and public attention, especially because it involves high-profile people.

The released files include court papers, police reports, flight logs, and victim testimonies. Some files also have videos and interviews from past investigations. The flight logs document Epstein’s private jet travels from 2000 to 2014, identifying the individuals he accompanied and the locations he visited.

Many pages are heavily redacted to protect the victims and remove sensitive information. Even so, the release combines past documents into one large archive, giving a fuller picture of Epstein’s criminal network.

Political Reactions

The release has sparked political debate. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the committee, criticized it, saying, “The 33,000 pages of Epstein documents James Comer has decided to ‘release’ were already mostly public information. To the American people — don’t let this fool you.”

Democrats argue that the release is more for show than for real transparency. Comer and other Republicans contend that accountability requires transparency. this dispute demonstrates the Epstein case’s continued political sensitivity, particularly given its connections to members of President Donald Trump’s inner circle.

Victims’ Testimonies & Next Steps

Along with releasing the documents, the committee heard private testimony from several victims. Garcia called their stories “horrific and infuriating” and said the committee will hear from more victims in the coming weeks.
