As Tesla CEO Elon Musk steps into the political arena, he has launched “the America Party,” a bold third-party initiative and the move followed his endorsement of a viral post that imagined a dystopian future where Kamala Harris wins the 2024 election, Donald Trump lands in prison, and the US spirals under progressive policies.

Musk, who recently broke ties with Trump over a controversial spending bill, now seeks to reshape American politics with a new platform that promises fiscal responsibility, immigration control, and free speech advocacy.

Musk Backs Viral ‘Dystopian’ Post

Musk stirred political debate after endorsing a social media post that read: “There is an alternative dystopian timeline in the multiverse where Kamala Harris won the 2024 election. Trump is in prison and facing hundreds of millions in fines. SCOTUS is packed and declares all aspects of wokeism legal – affirmative action, etc. The border is wide open, illegals are pouring in, permanently changing the country.”

“Just a little perspective when something bothers you,” it added.

He responded to the post with a sharp “Good points.” This endorsement came just days after his public fallout with Donald Trump, criticizing the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which Musk claims would bankrupt the country.

A New Party with Conservative Roots

In response, Musk unveiled the America Party, and he describes it as a fiscally conservative force that will counter the entrenched “uniparty” of Democrats and Republicans. The party’s main agenda is cutdown government waste, stricter immigration controls, and defending free speech. Musk describes it as taking the middle course in ideology, providing an option for voters outside current extremes.

Legal and Political Obstacles Continue

Despite the ambitious plan, analysts advise that building a sustainable third party in the US is a battle uphill. CNN writes that most third-party bids fail on account of lack of support and systemic barriers. Historically, even billionaire Ross Perot’s 1992 bid, although impressive, won no electoral college votes despite almost 19 percent of popular vote.

As of now, the America Party has not registered with the Federal Election Commission, as it has not raised or spent funds on federal races. Lacking official FEC activity, its status as a political party is informal.

Speculation Mounts About Harris

Despite Vice President Kamala Harris not being the Democratic nominee, speculation mounts regarding her potential candidacy and the fears about President Joe Biden’s age and capacity for reelection still take center stage in Democratic politics.

Musk’s foray into politics brings another twist to an already volatile 2024 playing field. Whether the America Party builds steam or dissipates like previous third-party efforts only time will tell.
