Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is a Pakistani politician and entrepreneur who has been the 20th prime minister of Pakistan since March 2024.

Shahbaz Sharif started his career as a member of the Punjab Assembly in 1988 and the National Assembly in 1990. He held the office of Chief Minister of Punjab for the first time in 1997. He remained in self-exile for years after the coup of 1999. He came back in 2007.
He won two additional terms as Punjab Chief Minister (2008, 2013). Upon his brother Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification in 2017, he became PML(N) president. In the 2018 general election, he was appointed the Leader of the Opposition. He won the election for Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2022 in a vote of no confidence against Imran Khan and continued as Prime Minister with a coalition government after the 2024 general election.
