India has strongly rejected China’s claim that it played any role in easing tensions between India and Pakistan during their military standoff earlier this year. New Delhi has said no outside country was involved in the ceasefire that followed Operation Sindoor.

Indian government “firmly rejects” China’s assertion and that no third party was involved in the end of hostilities.

Wang Yi Claims China Played a Mediation Role

The response came after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Beijing had mediated between India and Pakistan as part of its broader diplomatic efforts in global conflict areas.

According to reports, Wang made the remarks at the Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations in Beijing. He said global instability had increased this year and China had taken an “objective and just stance” in dealing with international disputes.

Wang claimed China had helped resolve several global conflicts.

“Following this Chinese approach to settling hotspot issues, we mediated in northern Myanmar, the Iranian nuclear issue, the tensions between Pakistan and India, the issues between Palestine and Israel, and the recent conflict between Cambodia and Thailand,” Wang said.

India Says Pakistan Asked for Ceasefire After Operation Sindoor

Indian government sources said there was no mediation after ‘Operation Sindoor’ and that Pakistan itself had requested a truce following Indian military action.

Sources told, “India’s position on mediation has always been clear. There was no mediation that took place after ‘Operation Sindoor’. India has always maintained that there can be no third-party intervention. Pakistan requested India’s DGMO for a ceasefire.”

Ceasefire Was Agreed Directly Between Indian and Pakistani DGMOs

India Today also quoted a government source confirming that the ceasefire was worked out directly by military officials from both sides.

“Our position has been clarified on several occasions in the past that the India-Pakistan ceasefire was agreed to directly between the DGMOs of the two countries,” the source said.

India Reiterates Long-Standing Stand on No Third-Party Mediation

India has repeated this position many times since the May 7 to 10 military confrontation ended. The government has maintained that the ceasefire was a direct military-level decision between India and Pakistan, without any foreign involvement.
