In a horrific boat accident in Romania, four people, including a child lost their lives on the Danube River’s Sulina branch in Tulcea County.
The incident happened on Monday during a recreational excursion when the boat carrying 14 passengers capsized in rough weather.
Romanian Naval Authority confirmed that the boat overturned because of “adverse weather conditions,” which included high winds and two-metre waves.
Ten people survived the ordeal, six of whom were able to swim to safety as they were wearing life jackets.
The survivors were all admitted to a hospital for treatment, according to the region’s Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
The identities of the victims have not been released so far, pending official confirmation.
