German Ambassador to India, Dr Philipp Ackermann, has sent a clear message to Indian job seekers. In a video message on X, he said Germany welcomes highly skilled Indian professionals. His remarks came at a time when Donald Trump shocked the tech world by hiking the H1B visa fee to $100,000 (about ₹88 lakh).
Here is my call to all highly skilled Indians.
Germany stands out with its stable migration policies, and with great job opportunities for Indians in IT, management, science and tech.

Trump’s Move Hits Indian Aspirations
On Friday, Trump signed the order that increased the fee from $2,000–$3,000 to $100,000. The move will make it extremely tough for US companies to hire foreign workers. Indians are the largest holders of H1B visas.
The sudden change will impact thousands of Indian youth, especially IT professionals, who dream of working in US tech companies.

German Envoy Takes a Dig at US
Dr Ackermann contrasted Germany’s policies with those of the US. He said, “This is a good moment to talk about Indians working in Germany. Indians are among the top earners in Germany. An average Indian working in Germany earns more than an average German worker in the country.
And that’s pretty good news because a high salary means that Indians are making significant contributions to our society and welfare. We believe in hard work and also in giving the best jobs to the best people.”
German Migration Policy Like a German Car
The Ambassador compared Germany’s migration system to a German car. He said, “Our migration policy works a bit like a German car. It’s reliable, modern and predictable. It will go in a straight line with no zig-zags, and you don’t have to fear a full break at a top speed. We do not change our rules fundamentally overnight.

Highly skilled Indians are welcome in Germany. He also shared a link for Indian professionals to explore opportunities in Germany. He assured that job seekers will find “surprising opportunities.”
China Also Opens Doors for Talent
Germany is not the only country reaching out. China has also invited global professionals after Trump’s H1B visa decision. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said, “In a globalised world, cross-border flow of talents is instrumental in global technological and economic advancement.
China welcomes talents from various sectors and fields across the world to come and find their footing in China for the progress of humanity and career success.”
Brain Gain for Europe and Asia
Trump’s decision could trigger a shift in global talent flow. Instead of the US, highly skilled Indians may now look to Europe and Asia. Countries like Germany and China are actively positioning themselves as the new hubs for global talent. For India’s youth, this could mean more options beyond Silicon Valley.
According to experts, this change could also assist in distributing talent across other economies and lessen India’s ‘brain drain’ to the US. The rivalry among Indian talent has only gotten fiercer as China promises global chances and Germany highlights higher earnings for Indians.
