Future Queen of Netherlands Falls Prey to Deepfake Porn Scandal

Dutch Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia was victimized by deepfake porn, with morphed videos spreading online. The FBI and Dutch authorities are investigating, highlighting growing concerns over AI-driven sexual exploitation and online abuse.

Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia of Netherlands has once again become a target of deepfake pornography. The face of 21-year-old princess was superimposed on porn stars using AI. The morphed videos were then circulated online through various platforms like MrDeepFakes, which has been shut down.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) helped the authorities take down these websites, as per The Daily Beast. 70 other Dutch women fell victim to the deepfake videos along with the princess on the same network. However, the content has been removed, but no arrests have been made till now.

A Repeated Incident 

The future queen of the Netherlands has fallen prey to such crimes prior to this one. Similar morphed videos had surfaced on the internet in 2022. Dutch news website Seher Og Hor reported that the princess had a ‘starring role’ in some of the deepfake content, underlining the scale of damage. 

Who is Princess Catherina-Amalia?

Catherina-Amalia is the crown princess and future queen of the Netherlands. She was born on December 7, 2003, in The Hague. She is the eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. She has held the title of Princess of Orange, reserved for the heir apparent, since her father ascended the throne in April 2013.

Princess Catharina-Amalia pursued a Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE) degree at the University of Amsterdam. 

The repeated incidents of deepfakes have raised concern around AI and technology-based threats, even to the high-profile individuals and royals of society.
