The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has once again made headlines in Canada after claiming responsibility for a firing incident outside Punjabi singer Chani Nattan’s house in British Columbia. The gang’s latest attack has raised fresh concerns about growing gang violence and organized crime in Canada’s Punjabi community.
The attack happened just days after Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Surrey was attacked for the third time in less than four months. According to police, multiple gunshots were fired outside Nattan’s residence, but no injuries were reported. A video of the firing has gone viral on social media.
Bishnoi Gang’s Threat to Punjabi Artists
In a social media post, a man identifying himself as Goldy Dhillon, a member of the Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the firing. The post stated that the attack was linked to Nattan’s association with singer Sardar Khera.
“The reason for the shooting at singer Chani Nattan’s house is Sardar Khera. Any singer who works with or has any connection with Sardar Khera in the future will be responsible for their own losses… We have no personal enmity with Chani Nattan,” the post read.
The gang, which was designated a terrorist organization in Canada last month, has been accused of spreading fear through extortion and targeted attacks.
Who Is Chani Nattan?
Chani Nattan, born on October 31, 1991, in Surrey, is a well-known Punjabi singer and songwriter. His music blends traditional Punjabi elements with modern beats, resonating with young audiences in India and Canada.
Rising Gang Violence in Canada
This attack marks another chapter in Surrey’s ongoing struggle with organized crime. The Bishnoi gang has repeatedly targeted prominent Indian-origin figures, including comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe, which has faced three attacks since July.
The series of shootings highlights the expanding reach of Indian gangs into Canada’s South Asian community, where extortion and gang rivalries have become an increasing concern for law enforcement.
