A woman in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, has reportedly filed for divorce just over a month after her wedding, citing her husband’s lack of personal hygiene as the primary reason. According to a report, the man, named Rajesh, takes a bath only once or twice a month, resulting in a body odour that his wife found intolerable.

Bathing Habits and Marital Strain

Rajesh, who believes in sprinkling himself with holy water from the river Ganga (Gangajal) once a week, only bathed six times in the 40 days following his marriage, under pressure from his wife. Despite this, the woman decided to end the marriage after just 40 days.

Legal Action and Family Conflict

The woman’s family has reportedly filed a harassment complaint and is seeking a divorce. The wife had moved back to her parents’ home after several arguments with her husband regarding his hygiene habits.

Previous Divorce Case in Agra

In a similar incident a few months ago, another woman in Agra sought a divorce from her husband after a dispute over a packet of Kurkure, a popular snack. The woman’s daily demand for the ₹5 snack led to ongoing conflicts, culminating in a divorce request when her husband failed to bring the snack home one day, as reported.
