At least nine individuals were injured in a stampede at Bandra Terminus station in Mumbai on Saturday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 5:56 AM on platform number 1, shortly before the scheduled departure of the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express. The injured were quickly transported to Bhabha Hospital for medical attention.
Cause of the Stampede
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) indicated that the stampede was caused by the surge of passengers ahead of the Diwali festivities. Seven of the injured are reported to be in stable condition, while two others are in critical condition.

Crowd Surge During Departure
The stampede occurred as Train No. 22921, traveling from Bandra to Gorakhpur, arrived at platform 1. The large crowd of eager passengers attempting to board led to chaos. Eyewitness footage revealed blood on the platform, with Railway Police and other passengers helping the injured onto stretchers.
Visuals from the Scene
Disturbing videos from the incident showed a Railway officer carrying an injured passenger on his shoulder. Other footage depicted two men lying on the platform, their clothes soaked in blood. Additionally, a man was seen sitting on a nearby bench with a torn shirt, reflecting the urgency of the situation.
