Dia Gosai, a specially-abled girl from Vadodara, had the unique opportunity to present portraits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish President Pedro Sanchez during their roadshow on Monday. The leaders visited Vadodara to inaugurate the Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Airbus facility, which is set to manufacture C-295 military aircraft. The roadshow stretched 2.5 kilometers from the airport to the aircraft manufacturing site.

Excited to meet the leaders, Dia patiently awaited her moment to present the portraits. Both Modi and Sanchez took the time to converse with her. “I was thrilled to learn that PM Modi was coming to Vadodara, and I wanted to give him something special. When he received the sketch, he shook my hand, which made me very happy. PM Modi even introduced me to President Sanchez,” an ecstatic Dia shared with reporters.

The roadshow featured cultural performances that celebrated India’s rich heritage, welcoming the leaders to the city. The new Tata-Airbus facility marks the country’s first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft. Under the agreement, 40 aircraft will be constructed in Vadodara, with Airbus directly supplying 16 aircraft. Tata Advanced Systems will handle the manufacturing of these 40 planes, establishing a comprehensive ecosystem that includes manufacturing, assembly, testing, and maintenance throughout the aircraft’s lifecycle. In addition to Tata, major defense public sector units such as Bharat Electronics and Bharat Dynamics, along with various private micro, small, and medium enterprises, will play a role in this initiative.
