Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a digital exchange with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni, responding to her selfie post during the COP28 climate summit in Dubai. Modi expressed his joy at meeting friends on his official social media handle, amplifying the camaraderie shared by world leaders.

Giorgia Meloni had earlier shared a selfie with Modi, captioning it “good friends at COP28” alongside the hashtag #Melodi. During his Dubai sojourn, Modi engaged in substantial meetings with several global dignitaries, including Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, UK’s David Cameron, Turkey’s President RT Erdogan, Sweden’s PM Ulf Kristersson, and others.

The Prime Minister’s hectic schedule saw active participation in four sessions at the UN climate change conference, marking a significant involvement in the event’s proceedings.

Wrapping up his visit, Modi expressed gratitude to Dubai for hosting the fruitful COP28 Summit, emphasizing the ongoing need for collective efforts towards a more sustainable planet. As part of his farewell, he shared a video encapsulating the key moments of his visit to the United Arab Emirates.

The focus of COP28 was the first assessment of countries’ progress toward the 2015 Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global temperature rise to “well below” 2 degrees Celsius, with a goal of 1.5 degrees Celsius.

The COP, an annual congregation known as the Conference of the Parties, convened for the first time in Berlin, Germany, in 1995, marking the beginning of global environmental discussions.
