Several users of X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, experienced significant access issues on Monday evening. Reports flooded in as users struggled to access both the app and website, highlighting the perils of platform reliability.

The peak of the outage was recorded on DownDetector shortly before 6:30 p.m. EDT, with nearly 10,000 reports mainly citing login difficulties. The disruption, though short-lived, affected a considerable number of users across the United States.

One user shared their experience, stating, “Down for me from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in New York.” Another user questioned, “Did Twitter just go down briefly? Or was that just me?” while a third inquired, “Did X just go down for everyone?” Adding to the chorus of comments, a user noted, “And immediately after going down, it’s back up again.”

The outage spurred discussions about where users could turn for updates when X itself is inaccessible. One user humorously remarked, “I was just thinking, when FB or IG are down, we all come here to see what happened, but when ‘X’ is down, where can we go to find out? lol.”

Despite the swift restoration of services, X has not yet responded to the outage reports. The incident underscores the importance of platform reliability and the impact even brief outages can have on the user experience.
