The impact of the recent western disturbance in the state has subsided, giving way to intensified cold weather. Chilling temperatures, accompanied by dense fog, are now affecting daily life. The night temperatures in 22 cities across the state dropped below 10 degrees, with 12 cities experiencing a cold day.
In the coming days, fog is expected to persist, further adding to the cold conditions. On Wednesday, dense fog reduced visibility to 50 to 150 meters, requiring drivers to use headlights.
According to the meteorological department, Mount Abu recorded the lowest temperature at one degree. Other cities such as Sikar (3.8), Phalodi (4.6), Bikaner, and Jaisalmer (5) witnessed cold nights. Jaipur experienced dense morning fog causing inconvenience for drivers. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 21.4 and a minimum of 7.8 degrees at night on Wednesday.
Twelve cities, including Sriganganagar and Sangaria, experienced a cold day with temperatures ranging from 12.5 to 13.4 degrees. Light rain in Jaipur on Tuesday marginally improved the Air Quality Index (AQI), which is currently in the orange zone at 222. On Tuesday, the AQI was 240.
The meteorological department warns of continued cold weather and fog in the upcoming days, urging residents to take necessary precautions.
