In the extensively discussed investigation of the Gogamedi incident, the name of an international gang leader, Lawrence Bishnoi, has also surfaced, indicating the expansion of its network in Rajasthan. Following Rohit Godara’s relocation abroad, Lawrence’s associate, Virendra Singh Charan, has assumed command in Sujangarh, Rajasthan. From orchestrating the Gogamedi homicide to supplying weapons to the assailants and aiding in their escape post-incident, Charan facilitated all aspects based on Lawrence’s instructions. With the primary accused in custody, the ATS has intensified efforts to dismantle the Lawrence gang’s network in the state.

Charan’s allegiance to Lawrence:
In the ATS investigation, it has been disclosed that gangster Rohit Godara, hailing from Lunkaransar in Bikaner, previously held Lawrence’s command in the state. Approximately a year ago, facing increased police pressure for his arrest, Godara travelled to Dubai via Europe using a fake passport. Following Godara’s relocation abroad, Virendra Singh Charan, residing in Bobasar, Sujangarh, assumed control of Lawrence’s gang in Rajasthan. Charan plays a crucial role in recovering extortion money for Lawrence, deducting his commission from the proceeds and transferring the remaining amount to Rohit through hawala channels. Additionally, Charan aids in accommodating criminals involved in executing Lawrence’s targets, including planning incidents and escape strategies. Recently, Charan provided weapons and logistical support to individuals firing at Bajaj Nagar and Jawahar Circle, following Lawrence’s directives. Furthermore, Charan orchestrated the stay and transportation arrangements for the two assailants from Sujangarh to Hisar.

Active smuggling of foreign weapons in the capital:
During the Gogamedi homicide investigation, the ATS uncovered several startling revelations. To execute the Gogamedi incident, two primary culprits were provided with two foreign pistols, approximately 35 cartridges, and cash by Gurgaon, a Pratap Nagar resident in Gurgaon, on the same day as the incident. The individual named Meghwal, originally from Kota and residing in Jaipur under a Muslim alias, is believed to procure foreign weapons for criminals involved in various incidents. For the Gogamedi incident, both assailants headed towards Jhalana with Scorpios, where Meghwal supplied Fauji and Rohit Rathore with lethal foreign weapons such as the Jigan Pistol and Pistol-30. Additionally, it was agreed that after the incident, Fauji and Rohit would discard both pistols in a field near the Ajmer toll plaza, which they duly did. Charan’s associates later retrieved both pistols from near the toll plaza.

Commissioner Biju George Joseph states that those involved in facilitating the escape and providing weapons in the Gogamedi incident have been identified. A special campaign has been initiated to apprehend them.
