Chandra Mouli ‘Bob’ Nagamallaiah, a 50-year0old Indian-American motel manager from Karnataka, was brutally beheaded in front of his wife and son at the Downtown Suites motel in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday morning.
Friends and family said Nagamallaiah was a ‘faithful husband, loving father, and kind-hearted person’. A fundraiser was launched to assist his 18-year-old son and wife with funeral expenses, daily expenses, and college costs for his son. His funeral is set for Saturday.
Details of the Incident
Dallas police reported that the attack was after a fight over a broken washing machine. Nagamallaiah had allegedly asked a colleague to interpret his directions, which offended suspect Yordanis Cobos-Martinez. Footage from surveillance reveals Cobos-Martinez picking up a machete, pursuing Nagamallaiah, and striking him repeatedly as the family of the victim attempted to intervene, PTI reports.
The police affidavit indicates Cobos-Martinez stabbed Nagamallaiah even after he had escaped to the front office of the motel, ‘until his head was completely separated from his body’, the affidavit added, he continued to cut. It also mentioned that Cobos-Martinez kicked the severed head into the parking lot and subsequently put it in a dumpster.

Suspect’s Criminal History
Cobos-Martinez, 37, who is Cuban, has previous Houston arrests for auto thefts and assaults. He was last released by the Department of Homeland Security after Cuba rejected taking him back because of his history.
He is currently in Dallas County Jail in pretrial detention without bond under an immigration detainer. if he is convicted of capital murder, he could receive life imprisonment with no parole or death.
Police stopped him roughly a block from the scene after first responders saw him running away.
