Who is Shaikha Mahra? Dubai Princess Announces Divorce On Instagram

Shaikha Mahra Bint Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum, daughter of Dubai’s ruler, has made headlines by publicly announcing her divorce from her husband, Sheikh Mana Bin Mohammed Bin Radhis bin Mana Al Maktoum, on Instagram. In an official post, Mahra declared, “Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce.”

“I divorce you, I divorce you, and I Divorce You. Take care. Your ex-wife,” she added, seemingly invoking the triple talaq, an Islamic practice banned in several countries.

Who is Shaikha Mahra?

Shaikha Mahra is one of the 26 children of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who serves as Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE. With over 450,000 followers on Instagram, Mahra is known for promoting local designers and advocating for women’s empowerment.

She married Sheikh Mana Bin Mohammed Bin Radhis bin Al Amktoum in a lavish ceremony in 2023, following their engagement announced earlier the same year by the Arabian Royal Agency.

Their wedding reception occurred in June, and they enjoyed a honeymoon on the Greek islands of Mykonos, with Mahra sharing, “Just the two of us,” on Instagram.

In May 2024, the couple welcomed their first child and celebrated with a grand gender reveal party in February. Mahra posted a picture on Instagram showing them together in the hospital during their daughter’s birth.

By July 2024, Mahra had removed all photos of her husband from her official Instagram account. According to the BBC, there has been no public statement from Sheikh Mahra’s husband or her father.
